Winter Returns
When the snow arrives in Scotland the transformation of the countryside is very dramatic. I Like it!!
I like it for the skiing, sledging, photo opportunities and the kids having fun. I like the crisp, sunny days that tend to accompany the cold spells, after the initial dump of snow. Here it is in all, (or maybe just some) of its glory.
Winter Berries was photographed on the banks of the Allan Water river. This was immediately after 3 days of snow which resulted in around 3 feet of snow. Transport ground to a halt. Road, rail and airports closed. Shops could not be stocked and some motorists spent a very uncomfortable 12-20 hours in their vehicles before being rescued. Just 1 mile from this scene is the site of one of the largest Roman garrisons in the UK, Ardoch.
Muckart Golf Course is in the small county of Clackmannanshire. It lies at the foot of the Ochil Hills. This day was a positively balmy -8 degrees celcius. Summer is just around the corner.
The above 2 photographs were an opportune photoshoot. Just 300 mtrs from my house, I saw the sun giving off a very golden glow. It was a very misty evening and this mist seemed to hold the golden light and spread it across the sky.
