Scotland and Scottish Scenery, Photography

Try Scotland as a Place to Visit

Hi, I am new to blogging so please be patient.  I am the owner of 2 internet businesses, motorhomeodyssey.com and newphotoodyssey.com.  I am based in Greenloaning, near Stirling, Scotland.  I am passionate about Scotland, in particular the outdoor life.  I am a keen skier, hill walker, photographer and sailer.  I want people to see how beautiful Scotland is.  This is the main reason for starting up my 2 businesses and also this blog. On a regular basis I will post photographs with some information about the area, both current and historical.  I hope you enjoy the photographs and the insight to this wonderful little country.

Stirling Castle
Stirling Castle
Stirling castle is in the Central region of Scotland.  Historically whoever controlled the castle also controlled the supply routes North.  The castle overlooks the site where William Wallace, (played by Mel Gibson in Braveheart), defeated a larger English army.  Bannockburn is only a couple of miles from the castle and this is the site where Robert the Bruce finally defeated the English to gain independence for Scotland.
Findhorn is in the North East of Scotland.  It is a quiet and picturesque little village.  There are miles of golden sand where one can walk, relax and enjoy the sea air.  A few miles to the east is Burghhead where it is thought there was a Roman garrison.  There is reference to this area in Ptolomy’s work on maps.

Stor
Stor, Skye

Stor is thought to be Norse for High Point.  It is situated on the North of Skye.  Skye is translated to mean Misty Island and if you ever visit you would know why.  That said, you cannot help but be drawn in by that remote island feeling.  On clear days there are stunning views to the Inner and Outer Hebrides.  Atmospheric cloud busting sunsets and Aurora Borealis will also be seen here.
